Can you beat Loick Peyron on the water?

A new ocean adventure is about to start, Loick Peyron (three times Transat winner, four times Orma World Champion, twice Transat Jacques-Vabre winner and once Route-du-Rhum) will leave tomorrow from Yarmouth, Maine, USA, to reach the French coast.

You can join him, for it won’t be a race on the water, more likely a virtual one to celebrate the anniversary of Mike Birch, a famous Canadian skipper who 40 years ago sailed that route to arrive in France to participate to the first edition of the legendary Route du Rhum. A regatta he won just a few seconds from his chaser making history.

Tomorrow you can try and relive this event on Virtual Regatta with Loick Peyron, sailing on equal terms aboard Happy - the yellow catamaran - to the finish in Le Pouliguen, her home port. The start is at 12:00 UTC on virtualregatta.com

One the ones that will finish before Loick, will be drawn to join him in St.Malo at the pontoons of the real Route du Rhum!

And speaking of Loick, he’s been seen testing the new Figaro 3 made by Bénéateau, in Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie. We are curious to see if he liked the boat..
