The 2025 470 Open European Championship opened yesterday in Split, Croatia, with three races completed on the first day of competition.
Hosted by J.K. Mornar, in collaboration with the International 470 Class Association and under the Croatian Sailing Federation, this year’s event has brought together 37 teams from 14 countries, all competing in the Mixed 470 class for the coveted European title.
Leading the standings after Day One are Jordi Xammar and Marta Cardona of Spain, showing consistency and strength across the opening races. Xammar, the reigning European Champion, appears to be settling in well with his new crew, Cardona.
In second place sit Beatriz Gago and Rodolfo Pires from Portugal, with a solid performance that puts them firmly in the mix. Dr. Lara Vadlau, Olympic Champion, and her new teammate Niklas Haberl from Austria round out the top three after a confident start to their campaign.
